Welcome to EcoTrail Stockholm 2022 Saturday June 18

After a few years with pandemic versions of our race we're REALLY looking forward to yet again organizing the race in the way we've planned for all year long :)

We're also looking forward to welcoming you to Stockholm, seeing you at the start line and show you all the beutiful trails our city has to offer.

Aid stations: At 25km, 40 km (water tap), 49 km, 58 km (drinks only), 61 km, 72 km, 76 km (drinks only) and at the finish.

BIB PICK-UP

You can pick up your bib on Thursday June 16 and Friday June 17 at Runners’ Store on Regeringsgatan 26 in central Stockholm. Directions to Runners' Store >>

- Thursday June 16: 16.00-19.00

- Friday June 17: 11.00-19.00

The first 1000 runners who collect their bibs recieves a foldable soft cup which you can use during the race.

Bib pick-up at the start

Bibs can also be collected at the start on June 18 an hour before the start of your race. Be there well ahead of your start time if collecting your bib at the start.


DIRECTIONS TO START/FINISH

All races start and finish at Stora Skuggans Amfieteater, Norra Djurgården. At the arena you'll find water, toilets, bag storage, bib distribution and medics. You and your supporters can also buy ice cream, coffee, sandwiches and visit our partners in the arena village.

By public transport: 15 min walk from metro station T-Universitetet (red metro line from Central Station headed for Mörby Centrum) Please see sl.se for metro times and travel planning.

By car: 15 min walk from the car parks Frescati Norra - Frescati Sports Center and Universitetsparkeringen Frescati Södra vid Norra Fiskartorpsvägen/Circle K as well as street parking along Bergiusvägen


COURSES AND COURSE MARKING

You can read more about the courses as well as view course maps if clicking in to the page for your race in the main menu here at our website.

Courses are very well marked with white/red ribbons every 10-50 metres depending on terrain. Most sharp turns are marked with A4 signs with red arrows. At some intersections and sharp turns there are also lanes with red/white tape on both sides (and you should run in to these lanes). In open fields the course is marked with red flags on 0.5 m high metal poles. If you've been running for more than 100 metres without seeing any markers, you have missed a turn/sign and should turn back to look for markers/signs.

All courses have a mix of technical trails, hills, tracks, walking paths, gravel roads and some shorter sections with paved roads. We recommend runners to run use a trail shoe although "normal" running shoes will work fine as well if conditions are dry.

 


AID STATIONS & FINISHER MEAL

Along our courses there are a number of aid stations. Above, in the details for your race, you can find the number of aid stations on your course and how far in to the race you will arrive at them. Most stations have both snacks and drinks while a few only serve drinks (Kvarnvreten and Harpaviljongen). 

Running 45 or 80 km?

Our two longest races are semi self supported races. This means that you will need to bring water and nutrition in your pack from the start. Please note that in our 80 km race, it's 25 km to the first aid station and another 20+ km to the next one, so make sure you start the race with plenty of water and snacks and stock up at the aid stations.

N.B. There are no cups at aid stations. You need to bring your own beaker/cup/flask if you want to drink, which we think you want to ;) We don't use disposable cups due to environmental reasons.

When you've reached the finish line you can enjoy a vegetarian burger cooked by the EcoTrail chefs and a nonalcoholic Erdinger beer. You can also by ice cream, coffee and sandwhiches in our trail running village at the finish line.

 


CHIP TIMING & RESULTS

Your timing chip is attached to your bib, so please don't fold your bib. Your result is elapsed time from the gun up until you cross the finish line. Intermediate times will be registered at every aid station along the course.

Live results are available from when the race starts. Link to all the results will be available on our website from race day. 


CUT-OFF TIMES

For all racess, you need to finish by 21.00 in order to be an official finisher. For 45 and 80 km there are also (very generous) cut-off times at aid stations (see the details for your race above). If you're timed out at an aid station, you will be retired from the race and marked as Did Not Finish. If you still choose to continue along the course, please note that: course marking may have been removed, aid stations may be closed, traffic marshalls may have left road crossings and bag storage and finish area may be closed when you reach them. 


ROAD CROSSINGS & TRAFFIC

Our courses cross a number of roads and bicycle lanes, altogh most of them see very little (and slow) traffic. Please note that no roads are closed for traffic and that normal traffic rules appliy to you as a runner. Traffic marshalls are monitoring most crossings. Pay attention to the marshalls' instructions and make sure you cross each road and bike lane SAFELY.


SAFETY & RETIREMENT FROM THE RACE

If a runner is injured or hurt, you're obliged to offer assistance and help the runner in every way possible. In case of a serious injury or accident - immediately call 112 for ambulance/police. For minor injuries or non-emergency situations, contact race directors at number +46 702 333512 or +46 709 202566 or the closest volunteer/aid station.

If you retire from the race (DNF) you have to notify race HQ or a volunteer/race staff member and hand in your bib. If you're running the 45 or 80 km race, mobile phone with the two numbers to race HQ above is mandatory equipment. State your bib number and your name. We will do our best to offer retired runners transportation back to start/finish, but if not possible you will have to use public transportation/taxi.

If you have a medical condition (e.g. diabetes, epilepsy) which might be essential information for medics in case of an injury or accident, please note this information on the back of your bib before the start of your race.


RACE RULES AND REGULATIONS

• You are obliged to help and assist a fellow runner who's injured or in distress.

• At all times, you have to follow instructions from race staff and volunteers.

• Littering is strictly forbidden at all points along the course. Store your trash in pockets or in your backpack and dispose of it in marked bins at aid stations or the finish.

• All courses pass through protected nature reserves and all runners have to behave in a respectful manner in order not to disturb wildlife. Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints.

• During the race, you’ll share forests, trails, paths and tracks with hikers, cyclists, horseback riders and walkers. All runners must be respectful towards the non-competing public along the course. All runners are obliged to give way to and keep a safe/respectful distance to riders/horses on horseback riding tracks and to MTB cyclists in Ursvik nature reserve (45 and 80 km) and in Lill-Jansskogen (all races).

Violations of any of the rules above will result in an immediate disqualification of the runner.

• You must at all times carry all the equipment stated as mandatory for the race you're running.

• You have to complete the full course to be an eligible finisher. If you run off course, you have to back-track to the spot where you left the course before continuing.

• Support or crewing is only allowed at the official aid stations. Pacers are not allowed. We want all runners to compete at equal terms, regardless if you're a local runner or traveling to Stockholm just for the race. However, you are allowed to use public water taps, buy drinks and food in cafes or stores etc and use other facilities along the course which are available to all runners.

Violations of any of the rules above will render a time penalty or disqualification of the runner.

• If you retire from the race (DNF) you have to notify race HQ or a volunteer/race staff member and hand in your bib.

• Our cut-off times are very generous but if you don't leave an aid station before its cut-off time, you cannot continue the race and have to hand in your bib.

• Decisions regarding time penalty or disqualification are made by the race jury, which includes race director, course marshals and the head of the organizing committee.
